Another travel day. Breakfast outside, since the weather is so nice. Then check-out and with all my luggage to the station. A little bit earlier than planned, but why not.

Bus no. 500 will take me directly to Kalmar. At the bus stop, I am interviewed by the local newspaper about the cancelled trains in Karlskrona. They even take a picture of me. (I checked, and you have to buy the newspaper to read the article. I first thought about taking the train, but the train is cancelled again, and then you take a bus to Emmaboda and the train to Kalmar. The direct bus is easier, faster and cheaper.

A double-decker bus and I get the seat in the top front row. Great view. The ride is not that long, about 1 h 50 min. You see a lot from this position.

Arriving at Kalmar central station. The hotel Clarion Packhuset is only a short walk away. And I even can check in early. Again, status is the best.

Kalmar is very well known for the castle, so this is my plan for the afternoon. A 15-minute walk to the park (Swedish cities love their parks). A nice and easy Adventure lab with bonus.

The castle is great, but again I have been in some many castles in my life, that a tour around the grounds is enough. A nice wind is blowing. I solved a multi cache earlier, and the final is more to the south. Over the graveyard and a stop (and cache) at Sweden’s longest bench (was it 226 meters?)… Easy to find and then it is already time to walk back towards the city.

Fast shopping at COOP and then to the city wall, where I have arranged for a Geocaching event at 6 pm. It was a great event, with 12 people showing up. Most from Kalmar or Sweden, but a group of 4 from Poland.

After 45 minutes of cache- and travel talk with some tips of where to find good caches (even giving some help with solutions) it is time to get dinner. Very nice meal at McDonalds… It was the easiest way to do it.
