The whole day in Karlskrona. Breakfast at the hotel after the night i a great bed. Nice breakfast are with the possibility to sit outside.
Time to get out and explore Karlskrona – and find some Geocaches. There is no real online guide for the city. But I found the app of Blekinge Museum that offers a self-guided tour with different themes. The World Heritage tour will show me around most of the city.
Starting with some close by geocaches at the guest harbor and swimming pool, my walk leads me to Ronnebygatan and Blekinge museum. The museum is closed, and I don’t need a museum. Fisktorget a stop. Here I would have had the possibility to take a tour out to one of the archipelago islands, but I am only this day in the city and that trip would take a day.
Next up to Stortorget. A stop at the local ICA to fill up on drinks and then to the public library. An unusual place for a city walk, but there is a well-made Adventure lab inside, that I have to find. While there, I have time to go through some local cooking boos and photograph some of the recipes. 🙂
Stortorget is next with the old buildings like the city hall and two churches, building the frame to the square. I put a link here for some more explanation.
To very different churches. One in stone and one in wood. But time to walk down Södra Kungsgatan towards Amiralitetsklockstaplen. The app tells stories about the planning of the city. It must be like a Swiss cheese under the buildings.
There is a big Naval area here and most of the area is fenced inn. But there is another church that the app and Geocaching says has to be visited: Rodenbom.
After some minutes inside (I didn’t find the little devil in the painting on the roof) Stumholmen is the next goal. Walking along the water. On the other side of the bridge leading to the island, I find a small CafĂ© to have a piece of cake. German tourists that bombard the poor (Italian= guy with German. How arrogant. Nice to take a little break.
There is a Wherigo cache here that gives you a tour around the island. A insert a link to information of the island here. I do not go inside the maritime museum but around the island. Some clouds in the sky, but still nice weather.
After 90 minutes doing the cache, the app dies and cannot be recovered. I hat this type of cache. Last time to do that, But still got a nice walk around the island. On my way back, a military police patrol stops and ask, if I have a drone… nope. I think the whole area is a now fly zone because of the military base. But a good idea…
Time to walk towards the hotel. It has been some kilometers again, But I take all caches on the way, buy a postcard and a stamp. Dinner tonight is meatballs, with mash and salad. It is included in the hotel piece. Great food, nothing to complain at all.
