Waking up after ag good nights sleep. Time to get ready for my activities before I go back to Oslo. Or so I thought until I checked my phone. KLM has cancelled my flight to Amsterdam and Oslo. But this time no call and there is no alternative booking yet.

First thing of the day for me is not breakfast, but calling KLM. They have nothing for me, but after some back and forth, they book me onto a Lufthansa flight via Frankfurt for the same day and about the same time. Fixed (for now that is…)!

Check out and on my way to my barber appointment. Need a haircut. And as many times before I try it where I am on holiday. Again found online is the Blackbeard barbershop not far from the city center. I have an appointment and am there 15 minutes before they open. I am happy with the haircut and can go to my next activity. A free walking tour of the city.

Meeting point is at The Spire. The tour is about 3 hours and takes you to some of the major sights in the city: Trinity College, Temple Bar (the bar is a scam, because it is not about the bar), Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dubh Linn Garden and Dublin Castle. A lot of interesting information and a nice walk. Again, this is like a normal big city. I thing the charm of Ireland is outside of the cities but I only had this day to do stuff.

Then I have time on my own and geocaching is on the list. Mostly a trip inside the public area of Trinity College because after the problem with KLM this morning I think it would be a good idea to meet up early at the airport.

And boy was I right. Total chaos. At the airport, the Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt is cancelled. There is a storm that grounded a lot of flights i Ireland. You definitely do not want to fly in a storm. Which leaves one problem: how to get to Oslo. There is a line for the Lufthansa flight that people wait in to get to the hotel they provide. They say it is three hours waiting. That is not what I want. I step out of line to check with KLM. No official counter to find. So onto the phone. No, they have nothing to do with it, since I was rebooked on Lufthansa. Lufthansa does everything online and there is no help to get an no flight to book to. I will not be stranded in Ireland. Since it is early enough I call the Norwegian customer service for KLM. Again, they say it is not their problem, but I am very clear that I booked KLM and they booked me on Lufthansa to get me home and that I very much am their problem. After telling about the situation in a nice way, the operator talks to her supervisor. They kindly rebooked me on yet another direct flight to Oslo with SAS. Great! Just a day late, but early enough to get my flight to Molde which was planned on Sunday.

Next question: hotel and food. I am guided to the ground handling operator for KLM at Dublin airport. The guy gives me a paper for the hotel and a bus stop where I can get to the hotel. And a quite nice hotel. So great. Out to the bus. 5 minutes to the hotel. The receptionist is rolling his eyes because they are full thanks to all the cancelled flights and the ground handler knows that. But they are nice and give me and a German woman a requisition for a hotel in Dublin city and they call a taxi that we can use without any costs. So 25 Euro ride to the hotel on KLM. At the hotel I get my room which would have cost 130 Euros. Then I get a dinner and breakfast voucher. 3 course dinner included. They also order me a taxi for the next morning.

The room is nice, bot the biggest but I just want to sleep here. And the internet is free.

Dinner was very nice. Fresh chicken wings (really good), a burger and homemade ice-cream. 45 Euros normally. Now it is just waiting for tomorrow to get back home (hopefully).
